"I go to prepare a place for you..." The Glorious Ascension of Christ

In this episode of From the Housetops, Brother Matthew reflects on the mystery of the Ascension through the writings of Prosper Guéranger and Hamon’s Meditations. As Our Lord ascends into Heaven forty days after His Resurrection, the apostles are left without His visible presence, yet filled with joy and hope. The Ascension reminds us that Christ now reigns as Savior and invites all souls to share in the promise of eternal life. Brother Matthew also explains how true prayer must be united to humility and reverence, since God listens with special tenderness to the humble heart that recognizes its dependence on Him.

Brother Matthew also explores the Church’s teaching on priestly celibacy through the words of Father John Hardon and the Second Vatican Council. Celibacy, embraced for the Kingdom of Heaven, allows priests to dedicate themselves more completely to Christ and His Church with undivided love. Rooted in the mystery of Christ Himself, this sacred sacrifice has long been treasured by the Church as a source of holiness and grace both for priests and for the souls entrusted to their care. Listen to this episode to reflect on the joy of the Ascension, the spirit of humble prayer, and the supernatural meaning of priestly celibacy.
