“Let him who has ears Hear.” Matthew 13:19

Angels: Our Spiritual Allies

This week, Brother Matthew explores the creation of angels, pure spirits gifted with intellect and will. God created them, like all creatures, by His divine will, and they serve as messengers of God. While non-living things, plants, animals, and man are visible, angels are invisible, and their existence is known with certainty only through faith. Reason suggests their presence from the ascending scale of creation, with man at the peak of visible beings and angels completing the perfection of the universe. Sacred scripture reveals them, often appearing in human form. Only three angels are named: Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael, each with distinct roles and missions.

Michael, meaning “Who is like God,” leads the heavenly hosts and protects mankind. Gabriel, “Strong in God,” announced God’s designs to Mary and is the angel of mercy. Raphael, “God heals,” is patron of travelers and Catholic physicians. The angels form a magnificent hierarchy, with nine choirs carrying out God’s commands and maintaining order in creation. Guardian angels, from the lowest choir, watch over humans, offering guidance, light, and strength throughout life. Join Brother Matthew on From the Housetops as he unveils the wonders of angels and inspires deeper faith through their story.
