Honoring Ignatius Cardinal Kung: The 25th Anniversary of His Death
This week on From the Housetops, we reflect on the steadfast faith and sacrifice of Ignatius Cardinal Kung, marking the 25th anniversary of his passing. Cardinal Kung endured 33 years in prison under China’s communist regime for his unwavering loyalty to the Roman Catholic Church. Upon his release in 1988, he spent his final years in the United States, where he continued to advocate for the persecuted Church in China. To honor his memory, From the Housetops was present at the Solemn Pontifical Requiem Mass in San Francisco, celebrated by Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone, with the sermon delivered by Cardinal Raymond Burke.
Join us as we revisit the extraordinary life of Cardinal Kung, a true confessor of the faith who stood firm in the face of persecution. His courage, endurance, and devotion to Christ continue to inspire Catholics worldwide, especially those still suffering for their beliefs. In this episode, we reflect on his legacy, pray for the underground Church in China, and seek strength in our own faith journey through his example of unwavering fidelity to the Gospel.
