Mary Offers Her Child to God - The Mysteries of the Presentation
This week on From the Housetops, we reflect on the sacred encounter in the Temple, where Simeon, guided by the Holy Spirit, recognizes the infant Jesus as the long-awaited Messiah. Holding Him in his arms, he proclaims with joy that he has seen God’s salvation—a light for the Gentiles and the glory of Israel. The prophetess Anna also rejoices, affirming Jesus as the hope of redemption.
Yet, Simeon’s prophecy foretells suffering: Jesus will be a sign of contradiction, revealing that Mary’s heart will be pierced with sorrow. Do we seek Christ with the same longing as Simeon? Are we prepared to follow Him, even through trials?
“...and that which you hear in the ear, preach ye from the housetops.” Matthew 10:27
