“Let him who has ears Hear.” Matthew 13:19
Orphanage Saved Through St. Joseph's Powerful Intercession. Precious Blood of Jesus, and More...
This week on From the Housetops, Brother Matthew recounts the miraculous intervention of St. Joseph during a famine in 1917 at an orphanage near Great Slave Lake. As the orphans and religious community faced the gnawing pains of hunger, Father Duport urged the children to pray fervently to St. Joseph. In response, a novena was begun, and two hunters were sent to find 100 caribou, despite widespread belief that none remained. Miraculously, they encountered a massive herd and killed exactly 103 caribou—the precise moment the children prayed in the chapel—answering their plea with divine precision.
Brother Matthew also reflects on meditations by Hamon, emphasizing the infinite value and generosity of Christ’s precious blood. Each drop, shed from His infancy to His crucifixion, cries out for mercy. We are called to honor this blood by assisting devoutly at the holy sacrifice of the Mass, by often approaching the sacraments, by prayer, and by confidence in God’s providence. Nothing happens without His will, and all things are guided by His wisdom and goodness. In joy and trial, we are invited to cooperate with divine providence, confident in His loving care and eager to do good to our neighbor.
