“Let him who has ears Hear.” Matthew 13:19
The Brown Scapular: A Precious Emblem of Love and Loyalty
On this edition of From the Housetops, Brother Matthew tells the sacred tradition of Mount Carmel, where the prophet Elias began a life of prayer that continues in the Catholic Church. He relates how Our Lady appeared to St. Simon Stock and gave him the Brown Scapular, promising that “whosoever dies clothed in this shall never suffer eternal fire.” The scapular, a sign of love and loyalty, offers grace, protection, and final perseverance to those who wear it devoutly. Through the Sabatine Privilege, Mary promised to deliver souls from purgatory if they wear the scapular, observe chastity, and recite the Divine Office—or, in its place, pray the Rosary and observe penance.
Join Brother Matthew as he shares miraculous stories of Our Lady’s protection: storms calmed at sea, conversions, healings, and the defeat of evil through the scapular. Hear how a bullet was deflected, floods receded, and souls were saved through her intercession. The scapular stands as spiritual armor, shielding the faithful from the powers of hell and reminding us that those clothed in Mary’s habit are under her care. This episode invites all to place their confidence in the Virgin Most Powerful and to wear her heavenly garment with love and faith.
“...and that which you hear in the ear, preach ye from the housetops.” Matthew 10:27
