“Let him who has ears Hear.” Matthew 13:19

The Supernatural is Superreal

In this episode of From The Housetops Brother Matthew highlights that the Christian is a citizen of the visible and the invisible, the natural and the supernatural, and God, soul, grace, and sin are realities, not myths. Mortal sin is the supreme evil, venial sin weakens spiritual life, and neglect of baptism or the sacraments reveals a dangerous decline in the sense of sin. To choose flesh over spirit, time over eternity, or self over God is to choose shadow over substance, illusion over reality. Living the supernatural life means placing God first, choosing spirit over flesh, and valuing eternity over time, knowing that revelation produces greater certitude than experience.

Faith, planted as a tiny seed in baptism, is a spark capable of becoming a mighty flame, as at Pentecost when thousands were converted. The flame spread across the Roman Empire, through Europe, and into America by apostles, saints, and missionaries who left all to carry the Christian religion to the nations. America now has her day, helping pagan lands find light through the work of her sons and daughters. Not all are called to missionary service, but all are called to the apostolate by example, explanation, and Catholic literature. Let us, therefore, live our faith openly, share its light with others, and support the mission of spreading God’s truth and love in every way we can.
