“Let him who has ears Hear.” Matthew 13:19
Total Consecration in the Lives of Religious
In this broadcast of From the Housetops, we reflect on the vocation of the consecrated brother as a vital support within Christ’s family, the Church. The brothers speak of their own discernment, drawn by a desire to serve God directly. As lay religious, they do not receive Holy Orders, yet they consecrate their lives entirely through vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience. This vocation offers a unique freedom for service, especially in teaching and formation, allowing brothers to touch countless lives through example, discipline, and charity. Their life unites prayer and work, forming a bridge between monastic stability and active apostolate.
The brothers describe their mission as deeply Marian, rooted in total consecration to Jesus through Mary according to the teaching of Saint Louis de Montfort. Inspired by the Rule of Saint Benedict, their structured life fosters prayer, sacrifice, and perseverance amid the modern crisis of faith and Catholic education. Through schools, chapels, and community life at Saint Benedict Center, they seek to sanctify themselves and others, defend the faith, and make reparation for the sins of the world. May the example of these religious brothers inspire us to listen attentively to God’s voice in our own lives and respond generously to whatever vocation He calls us to embrace, trusting that fidelity to Mary leads to union with Christ and the triumph of her Immaculate Heart.
