True Devotion To mary: Making the Consecration

T

he formula of consecration concludes the book like a diamond set between precious gems it is nestled between beautiful prayers composed by the saint. The essence is set apart, “In the presence of all the heavenly court, I choose thee this day for my Mother and Mistress. I deliver and consecrate to thee, as thy slave, my body and soul, my goods, both interior and exterior, and even the value of all my good actions, past, present and future leaving to thee the entire and full right of disposing of me, and all that belongs to me, without exception, according to thy good pleasure, for the greater glory of God, in time and eternity.”

To Jesus through Mary

“I cannot think of a higher work or a broader vocation for anyone than the simple spreading of this devotion,” Father Faber wrote. “Let a man but try it for himself, and his surprise at the graces it brings with it, and the transformations it causes in his soul, will soon convince him of its otherwise almost incredible efficacy as a means for salvation of men, and for the coming of the kingdom of Christ.”

Hidden for over a hundred years, Montfort’s work has been bestowed upon a generation confronted with immense obstacles to its salvation. Unheard of challenges launched by Satan engage everyone in the battle for their souls. True Devotion promises that those who follow it, “will arrive happily in harbor, following its guidance in spite of the tempest and the pirates.”

“And who shall these servants, slaves, and children of Mary be?… They shall be well purified by the fire of tribulation, carrying the gold of love in their hearts, the incense of prayer in their spirits and the myrrh of mortification in their bodies. They shall thunder against sin and storm against the world. They shall be true apostles of the latter time.”
