“Let him who has ears Hear.” Matthew 13:19

Truth Matters

Today on From the Housetops, Brother Matthew reflects on the importance of truth and the dangers of relativism in modern society and religion. Beginning with the classical definition of truth as the conformity of the mind to reality, he examines how the rejection of objective truth can lead to confusion in both moral and spiritual life. Drawing on the teachings of Pope Benedict XVI and the words of Joseph Ratzinger before his election to the papacy, Brother Matthew emphasizes that the Church’s mission is not to promote changing opinions, but to preserve and proclaim the truths entrusted to her by Christ.

Brother Matthew also considers the development of ecumenism in the modern era and raises questions about its effect on the Church’s duty to teach the fullness of the Catholic faith. Reflecting on Scripture, the witness of the martyrs, and the unchanging nature of divine revelation, he reminds listeners that truth is not determined by consensus but comes from God Himself. Join us for this thoughtful reflection on Christ, who is “the way, the truth, and the life,” and on the Church’s enduring mission to proclaim the truth to all nations.
