Understanding Mary's Mediation

This week on From the Housetops, Brother Matthew explores St. Louis de Montfort’s treatment of true devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary, who is necessary to God in the sanctification of souls. The three persons of the most Holy Trinity pursue through her their work in the Church until the consummation of ages. God the Father made an assemblage of all His graces and called it Mary; God the Son made her the treasurer of His merits, the mysterious canal and aqueduct through which His mercies flow; and God the Holy Ghost made her the dispenser of all His gifts. Exalted for her profound humility, she is sovereign of heaven and earth, treasurer of His treasures, mediatrix of men, and dispenser of His graces.

All the true children of God have Mary for their mother, for the Son forms Himself in His members through her. He who has not Mary for his mother has not God for his father, for the predestinate are born of her who produced the Head and His members. When Mary has struck her roots in a soul, she produces marvels of grace which she alone can produce.
