“Let him who has ears Hear.” Matthew 13:19
Why Aren't You A Catholic?
Today on From the Housetops, Brother Matthew reflects on the need for basic Catholic apologetics and the importance of having ordinary Catholics who can faithfully and charitably explain and defend the teachings of the Church. Drawing from the article “Why Aren’t You a Catholic?” published by the Knights of Columbus in 1952, he considers the question of why someone is not Catholic and examines the role of reason, religion, divine revelation, and the Church established by Christ in the search for truth.
Brother Matthew explores the historical reasons why many people and families became separated from the Catholic Church, including the religious upheavals of the 16th century, persecution, forced conversions, immigration, the loss of access to the sacraments, and mixed marriages. He also reflects on Christ’s establishment of His Church and His promise that the gates of hell would not prevail against it, encouraging listeners to examine the historical and reasonable claims of the Catholic Church.
